We received the sad news this week that our Honorary Fellow Professor Brian Judd (Physics, 1949) passed away on 8 April 2023. We offer sincere condolences to his family and friends on behalf of the Brasenose community.

Professor Judd was also a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, and a Fellow of the American Physical Society.

We are very saddened to learn that our Honorary Fellow Professor Robert O'Neill (PPE, 1961) passed away on April 19, 2023, in Katoomba, New South Wales. We offer sincere condolences to his family and friends on behalf of the Brasenose community.

We are delighted to announce that Jo Baring (Modern History, 1996) will be our 2023 Frankland Visitor.

A range of events are being prepared events with students in Arts Week (3^rd Week) and throughout the year including a project to re-hang the Ingram Collection in the Amersi Room, an alumni event, and a Principal’s Conversations in Michaelmas Term.

From the 19^th to the 24^th of March, we undertook one of the most important and most ground-breaking events of the entire Brasenose calendar: the North Yorkshire Roadshow. 

Given that term ends right at the start of December, I expected that we’d miss out on celebrating Christmas in Oxford, but instead, with Oxmas on November 25^th, I’ve had double the festivities, and have celebrated Christmas both with friends from university and friends and family at home!

"This first term at university has been a completely different experience to sixth form, and although it has taken some adjusting, it has been one of the best experiences of my life." 

Congratulations to Professor Sir Vernon Bogdanor CBE FBA FRSA, who received a knighthood in the 2023 New Years Honours for services to Political Science. The Principal wrote immediately to congratulate him.

I never thought 8 weeks could go so quickly! It’s been such a whirlwind, from Freshers’ week to Halloween parties, to Oxmas.

A generous gift from the Kennedy Trust for Rheumatology Research has enabled the creation of a new Chair in Molecular Immunology at the University of Oxford; we are pleased to be able to announce that Professor Michael Dustin has been appointed as the Kennedy Trust Chair in Molecular Immunology, and will be a professorial fellow of Brasenose College.

Growing up, studying at Oxford was never something I even considered, let alone aspired to.

On 22^nd and 23^rd November, Brasenose is holding its 2022 Giving Day!

The Giving Day is a digital campaign that seeks to celebrate the impact donations have on college and to encourage alumni to join our wonderful community of donors. Alumni will have a series of emails landing in their inboxes, each with a story, images, or a challenge encouraging them to give back to college.
