Saturday 21 September 2024 saw the first celebratory event to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the admission of women at Brasenose with alumni of all generations.

The day started with a panel debate at the Mathematical Institute on Woodstock Road as part of the University’s ‘Meeting Minds’ Alumni Weekend. Entitled ‘Five@50’ the debate had representatives from each of the five former men’s colleges who took the step first to admit women in 1974: Brasenose, Hertford, Jesus St Catherine’s and Wadham Colleges. Chaired by Vice Chancellor Irene Tracey, the speakers were Lexi Loizou (Brasenose, 2021), Jen Cownie (Hertford, 2005), Francine Stock (Jesus, 1976), Lisa Roberts KC (St Catherine’s, 1988) and Mary Ann Sieghart (Wadham, 1979). 50 Years of Women Discussion 2

Our Brasenose community is mourning the tragic death of first year Wesley Akum-Ojong. Wesley was a much loved 19-year old PPE student, who died on 21 June when at Port Meadow with friends.

WesleySometimes I forget I go to *the* Oxford University everyone is always talking about. Even after two terms, living and studying here feels surreal.

From 12th-25th March this year, our fantastic team of Telethon callers will be manning the phones and reaching out to fellow Brasenose members, to update you on College news, let you know about the exciting projects coming up, and share ways to get involved...

We were very saddened to hear of the recent death of Brasenose alumnus and sporting legend Lt Colonel Terry Adams (Psychology & Philosophy, 1954) - as his son Tal Adams (Mathematics, 1984) writes in an online tribute, "...he captained Oxford University Amateur Boxing Club and earned multiple Blues. Considered one of the greatest boxers to ever represent the University, he would later become Honorary Life President of the Club." Our thoughts and condolences are with Tal and all of Terry's family.
