Join Principal John Bowers QC in conversation with Ursula Buchan, award-winning writer and lecturer, specialising in social history, gardening, and garden history. Ursula talks about her most recent book, “A life of John Buchan – Beyond the Thirty-Nine Steps”, a biography of her grandfather, John Buchan, 1^st Baron Tweedsmuir (1875-1940), and she illustrates her talk with photographs.  An alumnus of Brasenose matriculating in 1895, John Buchan was a novelist, historian and politician who served as Governor General of Canada (1935-1940).  He is remembered for his fiction, most chiefly for The Thirty-nine Steps, but his other publications included a History of the Great War and a history of Brasenose College.  https://www.bnc.ox.ac.uk/john-buchan-writer
