Academic Background
Prof. Morgan worked in Pennsylvania and the Republic of Ireland, and studied in both Oxford and Cambridge, before coming to Brasenose College in 1997.
Teaching
He teaches most literature courses offered in Classics and related subjects, in both Latin and Greek.
Research Interests
Prof. Morgan has a special interest in Roman literature, and has published on Virgil, Ovid, Horace, satire, historiography and metrical form. He also has interests in literature in the reign of the emperor Domitian, in Central Asia both in antiquity and more recently, and in Latin literature of the nineteenth century.

Books include Musa Pedestris: Metre and Meaning in Roman Poetry (Oxford, 2010); The Buddhas of Bamiyan (2012); Ovid: A Very Short Introduction (2020); (with Prof. L. M. Olivieri) The View from Malakand (2022); Horace: A Very Short Introduction (2023); and he blogs on Roman poetry and other things at https://llewelynmorgan.com/ He is a regular guest of Natalie Haynes on BBC Radio 4 and her podcast.
