Before my appointment at Brasenose College, I was a Title A Fellow at St. John's College Cambridge.

British and European History, 19 and early 20CC.
Graduate Teaching
I am co-convenor of the Long 19th Century Seminar and teach on the MSt and MPhil in Modern British and European History. I am keen to supervise projects that relate to my research interests, broadly configured.
Research Interests
The long 19th century, especially nationalism and regionalism in 19th century Germany; Jewish internationalism and comparative religious internationalisms; humanitarian philanthropy and the pre-history of human rights; liberalism.
